A lot of people anxiously waited for the new Zet Kayaks boat, the Toro, to come out. So when I got a chance to test one of the first pieces to come out the mould I did not hesitate for a second. And because slalom course is not a river I took the Toro out to Austria for 2 weekends to see whether it's gonna be just a brief flirt or rather something more serious. We believe the new TORO will find supporters across all paddling categories. The flying squirrel hasn't got the speed of any of these the squirrel is fast compared to the nomad, jefe and stomper but the 9r, tuna and toro I'd say would beat it.

I spent the first weekend with Toro on the Lofer (precisely the Teuffelschluch on the Saalach river) also called the boater's graduation. Even with low water, it's still a technical section full of blocked passages and slow moving boils. On the second weekend, we were getting to know each other in the Oetztal valley, particularly the middle Oetz and Heiligkreuz klamm of the Venter Ache.

And now to the point. The boat is the same length as the Director, the biggest kayak from Zet-Kayaks, but from the first glance, it looks much slimmer. The bow is rounded and bent upwards (significant rocker), but the stern is dominated by sharp edges.
There are 5 handles on the deck, one on each end, one in front of the cockpit and two diagonal behind it. The inner fitting is the Zet-Kayak standard, that is foam seat and pillars combined with some plastics – simple and functional. Is lucky dice legit. With Toro, one can choose between adjustable bulkhead on aluminium strips or just foam footrests. Just one small detail is new – moulded in holder for an alien key behind the seat so it's always at hand yet safely stored. So that's about the looks and now the key thing – how is it on the water?
Without a doubt, the boat is fast, after a couple strokes it starts to glide and just goes forward. Raised bow does a good job and the boat can go over small holes and diagonal waves with a dry spraydeck. No edges on the bow also make direction changes easy, if you keep the boat flat, turning the boat in the current is a piece of cake. Side edges make the boat carve when you edge it, boost the boat forward when eddying out and help to make turns between obstacles. Casino for fun. As for boofing, it really asks for going to the air wherever possible. It also keeps the speed and direction after landing, which is probably caused by the widest point just behind the seat. Length of the boat allows boofing over some bigger features, but you need to keep that in mind in tight places so you don't pitton. Craps no pass line.
The boat is not too bulky so waves coming from the side don't move you around so much (which I felt on Director) and it stays well on line.
Overall, the Toro likes active paddling and precise edge control, for which it will repay you by fast ride with dry spraydeck. https://bestpload844.weebly.com/slotomania-private-eye.html. On the other hand, if you flow with the water leaning back, it will teach you a lesson. So if you're getting a bit bored on Director, because it simply goes through everything even if you don't do a thing and you're looking for a more lively boat, the Toro is the right one for you. Switching from Raptor would make a bigger difference in terms of boat riding features, but definitely a positive one. I fit well into Toro's weight specs and really like the way it behaves so I already made the decision to buy it.
